2007 Events

 

January

16th -- 7 pm. Monthly meeting--This meeting will be held at the St. Matthews Church, UCC, which is located on the corner of St. Matthews Rd and Rte 401, less than a half mile from the West Vincent Township Building in Chester Springs. The entrance is off Rte. 401 just before the "crooked" bridge, at the southeast corner of the intersection. 

It will be in the Parish Hall on the right side of the complex. Park anywhere and go in the side door under the covered breezeway, opposite where you usually go in.  We will be meeting in the first room off the hallway.

February

20st-- Club Meeting- Dr. Maria Wright of Brandywine Equine Veterinary Associates will speak on diseases which we need to vaccinate for this spring.  Dr. Wright and her associate, Dr. Gomez, recently started Brandywine Equine so let's wish them well with their new practice.

March
20th-- Club Meeting- A representative of the Blue Seal Company will present a nutrition seminar.
April
13th-- Spring Tack Swap - Friday evening, April 13, 2007 - 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. - West Vincent Twp. Bldg., 729 Saint Matthews Road, Chester Springs - $15. per 6' space, 2 for $25. - special rate offered for LCR&DC Members - bring your own tables - refreshments available for purchase - call 610-495-7845 to reserve your space.  Spring clean your tack room and come shop for bargains!
17th-- Club Meeting-  Irv Lichetenstein from SEPASAR (Southeast PA Search and Rescue) will peak to us about SEPASAR and also give us some general guidelines for trail riding and trailering safely.
 
May
15th--  Club Meeting- Location is Tom and Pat McKellar's farm- 10 Ebelhare Road, Pottstown, PA 19465  (610.469.6124).

(Note:  From the intersection of Route 100 and Route 23, take Route 23 East then turn left on Ebelhare which will be the first road to the left. We are the 3rd house on the right side of road.)    Please bring a chair!

Topic- Trailer Safety and Inspection by Jay from DiBella Trailers at Karen Nocella's home 223 Bishop Rd in East Coventry Twp
 
Directions: From the south: Go north on Rte 100. Cross Rte 23 (just past Horse Connection with Sunoco on the right corner). Go 2 more miles and look for big silo on the left. As you approach silo, look for a sign for Hoffecker Rd on the right. The sign is set in from the road a bit. Take Hoffecker to the dead-end at South Keim Rd and turn left. Proceed slowly on South Keim until you see BIshop Rd on your right. This is the first right off South Keim. Turn right and follow this road slowly. Just past a big S-curve, you'll see an open field on the left and then two driveways very close together. Take the first one you come to. Go down the driveway and park in the field on the left. Then go down to house and around to the back to the deck and patio to gather for the program. Bring chairs, bug repellent and flashlights.
 
 July
21st-- The Ludwig's Corner Riding and Driving Club Picnic will be held on Saturday, RAIN OR SHINE  -- at the home of Jon and Linda Morrison, 690 Rock Raymond Rd. Downingtown, PA 19335.  Telephone:  610-518-6088.  Rock Raymond Road begins at Route 322, just north of the borough of Downingtown.  The Morrison home is about 1.25+ mile up the hill (look for the big, red barn).

 

The picnic starts at 12 noon with snacks/appetizer and lunch will be at 1:00.  Our picnic is potluck, so everyone is asked to bring something.  Please choose from the following list:

- Appetizer/finger food to start

- Veggie or fruit salads

- Main course -- meat to grill:  shishkebobs, burgers, chicken, hot dogs, etc with buns

- Dessert

The Morrisons have a grill to grill meats.

 Please bring a large soft drink (lemonade, iced tea, soda).  Bring wine/beer, etc. if you choose.  We will have a large cooler and ice available.

 

Bring a chair, swimsuit and beach towel.

February 21st - Elena Schaeffer, director of Hope Springs Therapeutic Riding, does a presentation on the background of therapeutic riding.

March 21st -De nise Smith speaking on Chester County's Animal Response Team.

April 18th- Todd Meister, farrier (who also has a veterinary degree) from Chester County Farriers, gives a PowerPoint presentation about hoof abscesses.

May 13th- Scavenger Hunt, Marsh Creek State Park, Glenmoore, PA

May 16th-  Monthly Meeting

June 20th - Lynne Alfonsi will give a live demonstration and talk about her Icelandic horses at 7 pm.  The location will be the Romano 4-H center on route 322 in Honey Brook.

September 19th - Deb Schiler gymnastics demostration

October 17th--  Jamie Romig is a barefoot farrier.  She will be giving a program and demonstration.

 March 15th -- Aliza Simeone, PA State Veterinarian for 5 Counties (including Chester County), to speak on county and state-wide programs for horse owners. Meeting at the West Vincent Twp. Bldg. 7:00 p.m.  

 April 19th -- Stacey Small from Equilite, Inc. spoke on her all-natural herbal supplement line, which includes Sore No More liniment. Meeting at West Vincent Twp. Bldg. 7 p.m.

 May 

7th - Scavenger Hunt

17th -- meeting at a barn on Rt. 100 near Eagle.  Denise Hanna - Laser Therapy for Equines.  7 p.m.

20th - 22nd -- Our spring weekend at Fair Hill, MD !

17th - Monthly Meeting:   Dr. Missi Cooper from the Brandywine Veterinary Services spoke about Vaccinations.  Held at the Wallace Twp. Bldg.

March

14th - Trail Ride on the Perkiomen Trail

16th - Monthly Meeting:  Was going to be on the Horseshoe Trail Ride, but the meeting was cancelled due to snow & sleet

April

20th - Monthly Meeting:  Jan Huffman -- Certified Select John Lyons Trainer  He spoke, showed a video & answered questions on training horses.

May

8th - Spring Fling Scavenger Hunt at Marsh Creek State Park

18th - Monthly Meeting -- At Maija Ray's in Honey Brook.  Speaker was going to be Beth Brown (Equine Dentistry), but she wasn't able to make it last minute. 

21st -23rd - Fair Hill Weekend - weekend of trail riding, eating & socializing in beautiful Fair Hill , Maryland.  We had a BALL!!!

June

15th - Monthly Meeting: Pat Berkery - Safety in the Saddle at Susan & Phil Hoffman's in East Fallowfield.  Pat demonstrated with a rider on horseback the do's & don'ts when mounted when a stranger approaches.  

July

17th - Picnic at Karen Nocella's in Pottstown.   We had a very good turnout -- super food -- and a couple even used the pool -- and even more used the hot tub.  

August

17th - Monthly Meeting:   Bomb Proofing your horse demo & mini clinic held at Susan Weber's in Spring City

September

21st - Monthly Meeting: Polo Demonstration and Talk at Bruce Newell's barn in Guthriesville

October

19th - Monthly Meeting -- Beth Brown, Equine Podiatrist & Dentist (she wasn't able to make this or the May meeting)
