March Program is a Trails Forum

Open to All -- Non-members too

Tuesday, March 16th, 7:00 P.M.

West Vincent Township Building

St. Matthews Rd. near Rt. 401, Chester Springs

The program will be a Trails Forum and this meeting is open to anyone -- not just LCR&DC members. Please feel free to come to this meeting even if you do not plan to join the club. We hope many non members come. This Trails Forum will run from 7:00-8:30 p.m. and the club business meeting will be afterward. One of the ideas that came from a community meeting last year was to host forums on various topics related to the Open Space and Recreation Plan. One of the hottest topics is trail use. Ludwig's club members have a vast knowledge of the trail systems in Northern Chester County and this is a perfect opportunity for their voices to be heard by the people doing the planning and providing the funding. Representatives from local land trusts, township supervisors from 9 townships, and a representative from the Chester County Planning Commission will be present.

The Northern Federation ofChester County Communities is coordinating aRegionalParks, Open Space and RecreationPlan. This plan seeks to determinehow and where to provide recreation, greenways and trails through partnerships, pooled resources, and shared responsibilities to maximize opportunities andbenefits to the participating organizations for the good of the people who live, work, and play in Chester County. The nine participating townships include East and West Pikeland, East andWest Vincent, North, South, and East Coventry, East Nantmeal, andWarwick.

The Northern Federation has hiredplanning consultant Gannett-Fleming to organize several public forums to gatherdata from the community on a variety of recreation and open space issues.Trails are an integral part of theregional plan to connect open space and recreational areas.

THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM US!Whether or not you are a resident of oneof the participating townships, you probably ride, walk, or bike through some ofthem. If we want to have a countytrail system that is multiuse, we need equestrians to become involved in theplanning and take some responsibility for trail maintenance.

This is the time to share yourpassion for local trails, commit to the process of trail development andmanagement, and be a voice for responsible trail use.We are using the LCR&DC regularmeeting date and time to make it easy for members to join this forum. Our regular meeting will follow.See you there!
